ACCESSORIES

DISA has a full accessories division which manufactures and assembles a variety of products. These products are specifically designed and manufactured to compliment cathodic protection systems.

REFERENCE ELECTRODES

Reference Electrodes (RE) are used to determine if a structure is cathodically protected, by measuring the difference in voltage between the reference electrode and the structure (the potential). The most common reference electrodes are the saturated Copper/Copper Sulphate and the Silver/Silver Chloride electrodes. These electrodes come in a variety of configurations to suit their practical use.

    PORTABLE CU/CUSO4 ELECTRODE

This electrode is a conventional portable electrode, commonly used for the measurement of buried pipeline potentials. The electrode is supplied with a moisture retention cap and ceramic bottom plugs (see options below) which are interchangeable. The end terminal can be connected to a banana jack lug or a straight cable. There is also the option of ordering the electrode with a sleeve that is impervious to light.

      PERMANENT CU/CUSO4 ELECTRODE

This electrode is used for permanent buried applications, and has a minimum life of 20 years. The reference electrode comes with the option of being bagged in a low resistivity moisture retention backfill.

        PORTABLE AG/EGCL ELECTRODE

There are two types of portable Ag/AgCl electrodes: Type I for Marine Use and Type II for Soil/Concrete use.

          STANDARD 48MMØ COUPON

Corrosion coupons are used to assess the level of cathodic protection present on buried pipelines. This is achieved by burying a coupon near the pipeline being monitored, and connecting it to a test post.

            STANDARD 25.4MMØ COUPON

Corrosion coupons are used to assess the level of cathodic protection present on buried pipelines. This is achieved by burying a coupon near the pipeline being monitored, and connecting it to a test post.

              STANDARD 5MMØ/12MMØ/20MMØ COUPON

Corrosion coupons are used to assess the level of cathodic protection present on buried pipelines. This is achieved by burying a coupon near the pipeline being monitored, and connecting it to a test post.

                110MMØ COUPON

Corrosion coupons are used to assess the level of cathodic protection present on buried pipelines. This is achieved by burying a coupon near the pipeline being monitored, and connecting it to a test post.

                  INSULATING FLANGES AND INSULATION JOINTS

Insulating flanges and Insulation joints are used in cathodic protection systems to electrically isolate pipelines from other structures, to prevent current drainage.

                    SPARK GAPS

Spark Gaps are used to protect Insulating Flanges and Insulation joints against lightening and voltage transients, as well as equipotentialization. DISA supplies Spark Gaps with two galvanized Steel Brackets, which are to be fixed to each flange and connected to the Spark Gap. Spark gaps are supplied with coated copper cable, as well as the steel brackets.

                      SPLICING KITS

Splicing kits or cable joining kits specially designed for cathodic protection and low voltage applications are available in two and three way jointing kits. The kits contain clear plastic moulds, pourable polyurethane resin, cable sealing tapes and a mixing instructions sheet.

Available splicing kits: Tru Type Splicing Kit: Low tension straight cable and Type OY Splicing Kit: Low tension branch cable

                        PETROLATUM PRIMER

The primer is used to displace moisture, passivate oxides and fill imperfections on surfaces in need of sealing. Petrolatum primer forms a protective layer between the surface and the Petrolatum Tape or Mastic which is applied as a sealant. Petrolatum primer is formulated to adhere to surfaces in both dry and wet conditions and is neither flammable nor toxic.

                          Quantity available: 5Lts

                          PETROLATUM TAPE

The tape is used in anti-corrosion protection applications as it is highly impermeable by water and resistant against corrosive mediums such as mineral acids, alkalis and salts. The tape remains soft and elastic under a wide range of temperatures, which means it doesn’t harden or crack.

                            Widths available: 50mm to 200mm.

                            PETROLATUM MASTIC

Petrolatum mastic is ideal for the application of sealant to awkward surfaces. Like Petrolatum tape it is anti-corrosive, impermeable by water and remains plastic in both high and low temperatures.

                              Quantities available: 10kg bag..

                              HEAT SHRINK TUBING

Heat shrink is used to insulate, protect, connect and cover wires, joints and terminals. The product is designed to shrink when heat is applied, but only in its diameter, until it tightly covers the intended object/s. Disa supplies heat shrink tubing to suit all cable and connection sizes.

                                Quantities available: 10kg bag..

                                DISA PROTECTION CAPS

DISA Protection Caps are supplied as a kit equipped to repair pipeline coatings after a cable connection has been made.

BARE GROUNDING CELL-SINGLE ZINC GROUNDING CELL-DOUBLE ZINC GROUNDING CELL

Zinc grounding cells provide long-life protection to metallic structures by reduce the danger of shock and the possibility of the burning of insulating joints. The mitigation of AC current is supplied by grounding cells, without disrupting cathodic protection currents.

                                    LINE TAPS

Used to connect cables to other cables, and cables to anodes. Line Taps are available in tinned brass, complete with washer and nut in four sizes.
